Another gem of a hotel showcasing the uniqueness of Santorini. The Kirini Suites & Spa exudes style and sophistication at every turn presenting a world class product where less is more and chic is white. Although without doubt a stunning location, it is the hotel itself that steals the show. Cascading over the caldera like a sculpted glacier with rooms and terraces on different levels and flights of stairs disappearing into the deep blue void hundreds of feet below, you can only marvel at the artistic creation and immaculate detail. The soft lines of the alabaster-like rendering and smooth white-washed surfaces are broken only by the deep earthy tones of the volcanic rock, creating shadows, hues and contrasts. A gnarled olive tree shaped by the wind seems out of place as it battles against the terrain and marine climate to provide a little shade by the infinity pool. Walking onto the terrace that borders the pool of the Kirini Suites & Spa you discover more mysteries as you chance upon the Anthos Restaurant brooding in a cave hewn out of the volcanic rock. Set with just a few covers with views over the infinity pool and beyond you can't think of a better setting for a romantic dinner and you make a note to return later.
Stepping into the Spa you nearly do a double take. The room you realise is full of emerald water stretching from wall to wall, like an indoor oasis. Unlike other indoor pools this one appears different, more exotic, with pebble dash flooring leading into the water, the whole enveloped in an aura of calm. Around the corner the treatment room and Hammam lead to a rest area and shower. Outside again you involuntarily squint against the bright sunlight, passing another pool hidden in a cave, until you find respite in your room, a room so alluring and captivating that you'll want to stay forever.
